We keep reading journalists and other commentators bemoaning the very serious economic and mental health sequelae of severe lockdowns such as being suffered in Melbourne atm. They reckon it's "just" a pandemic like several previous and we should cop it and wait for it to pass. Keep business as usual. "It's the economy, stupid" is taking on an unintended irony.

They are entirely unaware of the increasing evidence that multi-system destruction in countless millions could extend decades and generations, and be far more economically destructive than our current defensive measures.

Sweden is making a good study of itself. And there are US states where increasing numbers of the young are afflicted with Covid, possibly due to inadequate protective measures. Unintentional guinea pigs. I fear we are seeing only the very beginning of a story that will play out for much of this century. When the pandemic passes there will remain millions of crippled, weighing on the health systems and economies.

Unless Rem-L and perhaps other therapies can help.
