Sony already make monitors, as do SmallHD and others. I believe Blackmagic is the only competitor making monitor recorders presently.

With the likes of Go Pro, IPhones or anything else, eventually you reach a saturation point and a slower upgrade cycle. Not sure what the total addressable market is for monitors and how far we are away from saturation - could be years if there is more take up in higher quality social video production and streaming. Atomos will need to diversify its hardware and software to reflect market demands. I don't fully understand the opportunities for it to license its technology but it has suggested this is what it intends to do.
