ethical question regarding sponsoring children, page-6

We all lay in the beds we make, so the choice is a personal one.

As to the question of whether it's fair, well, I will answer by saying that I was astounded to see the mass of gifts given to my nieces, as we all sat around the tree whilst at my parents for the usual christmas gathering. It then dawned on me that they (my nieces) were still to receive gifts from my sister-in-law's family.

My nieces have all they could wish for, yet here they were receiving more...gifts that would one day, and soon enough, be cast aside and forgotten.

The vast majority of the world's children will never ever see even a sliver of the kind of privelidge that ours in this country enjoy...but, let us put aside material things for a moment, and pause to consider, that whilst millions of children all over the world are starving, ours live a life of opulence.

So, now I ask you....is this fair??
