The problem with generalised statements.... is they are generalisations designed to temper and excuse bad behaviour.
Far better to start with definitions of morality as a first principle on which to base secondary decisions. That way you don’t get lost in the murkiness that generalisations afford those who hide behind them.
The choices are passive participation or active intervention in the behaviour. I’m clearly in the latter camp and sleep as a consequence.
