The Gobi region, where our PSC sits, is a key part of the Asian Super Grid concept — a plan to transport clean power (gas and renewables) across Eastern Asia through extensive new electricity transmission connections:
The energy grids will utilise the large sources of clean energy in Mongolia and Russia to supply energy to China, South Korea and Japan. The Asian Super Grid project plans massive new transmission lines through the Gobi Desert.
In addition, the Mongolian Government is under great domestic pressure to source cleaner power as 95 percent of its domestic energy output is coal-derived, resulting in high pollution levels in Ulaanbaatar.
Definitely a case of right time, right place for Elixir. Especially with the high natural gas prices (per your earlier posts) and the forecasted huge gas demand in the region.
