Perhaps a more accurate title to the thread should be: Number of super funds to halve in next 5 years. Funds can mean $$'s and individual 'funds'.
There was a story about this in the press recently (Fin Review?) about the likelyhood of many Industry Funds amalgamating to reduce costs. However they're asking for a favourable tax-treatment to allow rollover / transfer of capital losses (that's what I think I remember reading).
Very likely costs will need to reduce over time and consolidation is an obvious option.
