The study really shows the importance of large sample sizes. The only reason there was any difference between NEWS scores at the end of the study was because of one of the placebo group having an outlier score of 16. The other members of the placebo group had a score of 0, just like the treatment group. If the same thing happens with a substantially larger sample size, the treatment will essentially be as effective as placebo, which is to say, not effective.

It will be interesting to see the outcome with a larger sample size.
