Hi Kittylittle, I would ask that you use caution and discretion in trading shares through any mechanism: Particularly concerned that you've sold your home and borrowed on your land. You've chosen a good Company in FMG, so that's a start. Note the volatility and general disruption that China could create - even though they buy our high-grade iron ore. China mines its own IO too - at a lower grade and FMG has a fleet of its own IO carriers. There are so many things that can turn a stock on its head though.

I'd say, stay on top of the news and don't take your finger off the pulse, even if investing through your SMSF or other managed funds. I hope your looking at diversifying and buying stocks in other well researched companies. If you're not used to trading, I recommend not over-investing so as to make sure you're always financially OK. There are many on-line resources you can utilise to get a feel for investing. Lots of helpful input from the HotCu members too.
