Gadolinium is administered at a rate of 0.2ml/kg (approx 14ml for a 70kg patient) and is toxic to the kidneys. Our nanoparticles are approx 1/2 teaspoon per contrast, so 2.5ml. Toxicity is unproven but believed to be safely converted into iron. Considering that 5-6 times the amount of gadolinium is needed along with extra radiation and lesser quality images, something would have to go pretty wrong for this not to get up.
