I run a 10% rule......no matter what gain a stock is looking at ‘possibly’ being I jump ship at 10% (not inc brokerage) this is also mated with a 2% stop loss. I sell at 10% and if I think there are more gains to be had I re-buy. I absolutely understand I miss out on some gains and realise I am paying extra brokerage but I find it works well for me. Today for instance I was in and out of ROO 3 times.....$1,000 parcel each time to keep in the $10 CommSec brokerage bracket (I don’t normally re-invest gains). I normally run 2-3 open positions at a time on these day/short term trades but also have my medium/long term stocks which hold the largest portion of my investment......short term stuff is the fun that keeps me interested.

Thanks, interesting post. My portfolio is doing well .Have held stocks for 2 to 3 weeks and are up by about 11%. Time to sell but as I said it is hard to forego possible further profits. Stocks can easily fall dramatically as I have learnt but yet I still hold
