Just to clarify - that should be 5G is shorter wave length. Shorter wave lengths attenuate more easily and therefore don't have as long range as relatively longer radio wave lengths. Wave length is inverse to frequency.
For example domestic aircraft have VHF(very high frequency) line of sight radio plus backup HF(high frequency) radio that has longer range and can bounce back down from the ionosphere to reach further than line of sight. VHF is a shorter wave length than HF but high frequency.
