Not cheaper when you compare like with like.

if I had a V8 & had it towed by a truck, does that mean I have now improved fuel economy, by being a parasite & putting a much larger drag on the other vehicle??

Only thing 'rewewable' about renewable is that you have to constantly renew the hardware, from scare resources.
