Mr B,
We absolutely loved not only Hobart but all of Tasmania. It was almost like NZ...
No part of the island was more than 5-6 hours away, clean fresh air, a sense oh history that generally and slowly been removed from many parts of the mainland. We first stared exploring there around 1984. I honestly can say that we have visited 97% of the main island (and Bruny) over the years.
Hobart and indeed Tasmania may well be seen as sleepy by many but to be honest that is the charm. As you may have picked up I am pretty biased.
PS- if ever heading back let me know and will give you a good itinerary.
