Once there were anti monopoly laws, long since deceased without so much as a whimper from the media or the public, the majority of whom could not care less about the demise of the small trader and an increasing number of workers. Thirty odd years ago the local baker was priced out of existance, one area at a time, but selling below cost until the local baker folded. This has now extended to fuel, alcohol, meat, newsagencies, etc etc. As a prevoius poster said, the quality of meat has gone down the drain and when did you last get a piece of fruit worth eating? We only get last years pick that was stored green and coloured artifically, but unfortunetly the sugars never developed leaving us with the tasteless rubbish we are expected to eat today. We only have ourselves to blame as most people will say "why should I support the small trader when I can buy rubbish from the few chains for a cent less".
