Tony, your observations echoed my feelings yesterday as I approached the newly extended Harbourtown S/C in Adelaide - a huge monument to mostly rubbish.
Even if some consumers continue to have money to waste, they will not be able to counter the effect that declining takings will have on cashflow. And even if rents are reduced (pigs might fly of course), wages & other expenses also are a heavy burden on the small retailer. Most of the retailers in the major centres such as Westfield, etc., need to employ casual staff to assist the managers.
Anyway, how much more useless stuff can people continue to accumulate?
Cheers, J/W
hoping that CD's and DVD's don't get hit by another tsunami - the download and burning hit a heavy blow a few years back from which a lot has been learnt.
