I sold 600 shares at $16.53 on Thursday 15 Jan with the intention to fully participate in the shares buy back at $16 (Or lower). Assumming there is no scale back and the SPP is at $16:
Receipt from sale of 600 shares@$16.53(less $29.85 brokerage):$9,888.05
No of shares in SPP: $9,888.05/$16 = 618 shares
% gain = 18 shares/600 shares = 3%
The 3% gain is low but the risk is very low too. If the sp hovers around the $16 mark from 19 to 31 January, the SPP is unlikely to be many times oversubscribed. WBC had issued securities in the US to raise capital and provided the SPP is not oversubscribed many times, I think it will not be scaled back.
