Newbie99 - That was your decision - but as swimmingtoad said it is very common. Active communication between a Company and its shareholders is just basic courtesy (although recognising that basic courtesy is a bit old-fashioned).
I would be a bit concerned for you if you believe communication by a Company you own shares in means its desperate.
I guess that it would be fair comment that you prefer Companies that don't communicate, as that would mean they are a strong Company???
