You are, of course, implying that the China boom commenced from the first year that the Howard government was elected which is a very erroneous statement. How else did we sail through the SE Asian Economic Crisis.There was no China boom in that period.

I frankly don't give a danmn about the so called Tampa Incident. The duty of our Government is to ensure our security and if that involves close scrutiny of those who try to enter our shores by nefarious means so be it.

The worst part of his period in office is that the States (all under Labor tutelage) wasted the largesse they received in the form of Stamp Duty and the GST and, in the case of QLD and WA, the huge income stream from mining royalties (at least WA built two desalination plants). What did THEY do with that largesse, employ more public servants I suppose.

By the way I never said I loved him but I appreciated the things he did (but not all) for this country.

But you must have a short memory if you believe that the economic boom started from the very day he came to power.
