I disagree - I think Howard could never choose to leave - he would always had to have been dragged out either by voters or by his party - if he had picked his time a year earlier he would have done the Libs a much greater service - and a greater legacy to his party (this is an objective observation seperate from my political views) I mean Hawke was exactly the same & that goes for PMs - they find it difficult to walk off into the sunset.
