There may be a degree of corruption in science, but it's certainly not endemic. Science is regulated and corrected by peer review. The body of science weeds out falsification, exaggeration and self-aggrandisement. Science has no axe to grind with religion. It is religion that constantly gets in the face of science and then those who are bothered by religious, literal nonsense react. the likes of Dawkins, who loves the sound of his own voice.
Science is not providing a belief system, they demonstrate the functional realities of physical reality. They dare not publish falsehood or the rest of the scientific community will tear their credibility to shreds.
Your beliefs however are no more than the interpretation of somebody way back in the history of your organisation and rather than each individual testing those beliefs with an open mind, they are bound to repeat those errors until the Governing Body has a change of heart.
So there's a handful of untrained people in your religion's past who interpreted the Bible in a way reflecting the limits of their understanding, verses generations of scientists, numbering in the hundreds of thousands.

Trust in Jehovah - I do and that's why He provided science and educated scientists.
Do not rely on your own understanding - I don't, I study the science and compare it to Scripture and would never solely rely on the interpretation of somebody else, or a religious body lacking both education and Scriptural understanding.
In all your ways take notice of Him and He will make your path straight. Yes, if everything was Created by Jehovah, that means science is the study of Creation directly, so science would be by far the surest way of understanding the nature of Jehovah's Creation. Religion tells us the Cause of Creation and science tells us the method of Creation.
