Not sure what your getting at with regards to the drill rigs.
Are you asking why more metres should have been drilled at a cheaper rate becuase labour is cheap
After being involved in the Ivory Coast for many years I can tell you that any drill rig operating in West africa costs about double what it would in Australia.
There are no speed increases for operating in Africa if anything its worse
Drill speeds usually only improve when good operators get to know the material that they are drilling, look after their rigs via maintenance and know the rigs capabilities thus taking out the down time lost through stuck rods breakages etc.
Most expats operate the rigs and they dont come cheap.
Rigs work day shift and night shift unions or no unions this doesnt change
Logistics are actually worse so carefull planning and spares inventories are paramount. Cant just whack it on a overnight courier.
To get to where they have in such a short time should be at the least acknowledged.
This project is unlike anything in Australia and therefore really cant be compared to anything here. DSO is a part of the project but the Itabirite (Brazil)style of ore that underlies the project is what will sell it overall. DSO is a sweatener
