I just took down my previous post as I noticed a silly error. Should not talk to my wife, drink wine and post all at the same time. Try again.
As I said I am away and left my notes at home however last week when the total shares traded were over 100 million and the number of trades over the day were in the 14 thousands the average parcel size was over 6,000 shares.
Having just taken today’s figures from CommSec 75,166,036 shares have traded. There were 5,462 trades with the average parcel size being 13,761.
This is a sudden increase both in average numbers in a parcel and also in the amount of money per trade. More than double on both.
I have no idea who has been buying but would think your average retail buyer would have a usual budget or spend and could not suddenly find the money to double that normal budget or spend.
So the idea that more well healed investors are taking an interest seems to be supported by these figures.
My opinion only DYOR.
