They didn't pay you the refund by direct deposit because you paid by BPAY. BPAY doesn't work that way.
I think they paid the refund according to your dividend instructions. Not how you paid for the SPP. If you get your dividends direct deposited, same with the refund. If you get your dividends by cheque, refund by cheque.
