Alaska is expensive ground in onshore oil, harsh conditions and remote locations equates to long term thinking. Any discovery will require atleast 4 wells to appraise and production test as productivity out of these formations isn’t the best.
These plays are probably best sold off to a major once initially discovered. Hillcorp, Exxon and ConocoPhillips are the main players here.
