It could have something to do with the $200b price tag for such infrastructure and limited to passangers when there is already 'very fast' aircraft.
Imo $200b could be better spent on the national rail network such as drive on freight rail for metro and regional areas to reduce the road traffic from east to west and south to north.
Same for dams, same for energy production.
Industry both agricullture and manufacturring urgently requires improved and cheaper and guaranteed water and energy plus cheaper national transport costs.
It should be cheaper to send a container from melb to WA or melb to qld than to import a container to melb, nsw, qld or wa from china.
Upgrade the national rail network to cater for drive on and off container trucks and it would be cheaper.
$200b plus cost blow outs plus delayed delivery is a pathetic idea.imo
