I think anyone is capable of manipulating the market, not only Chinese.
Anyone can manipulate the market. However people in China are totally immune to Australian law and don't care less. My understanding is that trading was being organised on WeChat. The absolutely massive daily trading volumes (up to 20% of shares) and wild fluctuations shows that the price is driven almost entirely by speculation.
