It is likely that the result of raising the clearance for double stack trains on the link from Melbourne to Sydney will be a move to get trucks off the roads by taking the trailers by rail,no doubt the new line further north will have height clearance for the double stack trains.
The big negative in Victoria is the fact that changing the broad guage to standard on the main line meant that the branch lines were stranded and all rail services lost to road,even on the main line freight depots and stations were closed when the opposite was really the optimum for a good rail system
