Hey Elzephyrus, I disagree. That would only be the case if 100% of every stock traded with each transaction. But we know this is not the case.
For example, a company called QWE has been in a long downtrend but only 1% of all stock on issue is trade every week. However, it has decreased 10% for the week. That means that 99% of holders that didn't sell have lost 10% for the week. That money has vanished unless the stock recovers. Remember many stocks that are down 90% from highs will need to put on 900% returns to get back to the same high.
Sorry, if I'm not explaining myself clearly or if I misunderstood your question.
If you think the stock market can go up just as quickly as it tanked, that's fine but from where I'm looking it could be a decade before we reach 7000 points on the All Ords again.
