My understanding is the treatment must be given within 72 hours of being put on a ventilator. I presume because this was determined to offer the best benefit. Those on placebo would be beyond the 72 hour window therefore would not receive the cells and could continue to be monitored. They will, however, continue to receive the best standard of care.
