I would love to get people’s opinions on whether I am missing something in relation to IFL being grossly undervalued. Recently we had KKR purchase 50% of CFS for $1.7 billion. CFS has $130 billion FUA and that sale valued CFS at $3.3 billion. That means KKR paid $1.7 billion for approximately $65 billion FUA. IFL just bought MLC for $1.4 billion and MLC will add approximately $300 billion to IFL total FUA. Does this mean IFL stole MLC considering what KKR just paid for CFS? IFL is valued currently by the market at $2.3 billion. If KKR was willing to pay $1.7 billion for half the FUA CFS manages, then what does that value IFL with $500 billion FUA? Certainly not $2.3 billion surely??? What am I missing between the KKR deal and the value of CFS and the recent MLC deal and the value of IFL? Is it the debt position of IFL vs CFS and MLC? Not to mention BT. The financial review just discussed a reasonable value of BT at between $3 - $4 billion and BT won’t have close to the FUA IFL will have.
