Anytime I see an unexplained price fluctation my mind wanders to the fact that the comm system on a modern rig is such that preventing information leaking out to the outside world is virtually impossible.

An average rig will have 90-100 people on board and everyone of those people has telephone and internet access. Whenever I see a client advising that a well is "tight hole" I generally have a laugh to myself.

The modern driller....one hand on the brake and the other on the laptop keyboard checking the market.
