It hasn't been determined whether time had a beginning or not. The universe be cyclic, part of a multiverse, etc..... The reality is science is in a big hole,there is number of problems in physics and astronomy which could be solved if there were an infinite number of other universes where are possibilities exist, in this case one can also argue that there might be a universe where our take of God exist. or one where no universes exist at all, the scientific problems we have will also have to be explained in each individual universe, and that would open a Pandora's box. The problem is from the start of humanism science have taken a naturalistic view and that's quickly running into brick walls wherever it turns.

The problem is not that science has huge gaps in understanding, but jumping to conclusions, assuming knowledge where no knowledge exists. Religion does the latter, science does not. Better to acknowledge a gap in understanding than to have a false assumption of truth.
