Both of these are hideous.

Archistruct are essentially builders with some guy who did a building design qualification. That doesn't make them niche or boutique, building designers work at volume home builders too. Any half decent volume home builder will allow for some change within the design based on the purchasers needs.

Stop advocating for shit design in order to return a profit. The world is ugly enough already without adding even more shit quality cookie cutter housing.

As for penalties for not finishing a build on time, that is dependent on the contract that was signed between the builder and the client and thus impossible for you to judge. You have no way of knowing what was in that contract, so I'm not sure why you would even make assumptions on it. There is no law that specifically covers delays in construction.

Also the Byford build is essentially a big house. Again its going to be a pretty ugly suburban building.

Touching on your 'not having a good grasp on words', I don't think you know what a commercial build is if you consider 'Byford to essentially be a big house'

A commercial build by definition is a development where at least 50% of the floor plan is going to be used for commercial activities. You know, like a coffee shop, office and community hub...
