40,000,000 cars x 40kg LCE = 1,600,000 tonnes LCE (not 160,000 tonnes)
Or, if you like, 40M x 50kg = 2M tonnes, as you noted.
And yes, in 2019, as far as I can tell, there was less than 200kt LCE used in EV batteries. That chart in that previous post presumably shows total Lithium mine production in terms of Li METAL, which is NOT the same as LCE!!!
IMO it is absolutely critical that people understand these concepts/numbers/conversions!!
Anyway, this massive expected growth is exactly why some of us have been so excitable for so long!!!!!!!!!
