When a broker puts up a crossing, they put 1 share in the buy side and one in the sell side mark it as a crossing and then fill in the units. If it accidentally gets hit by someone else, they are out by 1 share. So they fix it in the cross over.
I mean, yeah, damn bots and 5G making the earth flat..!.
