I don't understand your logic substituting one life killer with another to justify do nothing. We have a controlled condition with competing killer viruses, providing the magnitude of Covid versus Flu

Flu 21,079 notifications of laboratory confirmed influenza, 36 (0.17%) deaths
Covid 26,912 cases 851 (2.84%) deaths

= ~17 times more likely to die from Covid infection than Flu infection.
