Nice article, I really like that the IMF is taking such a strong interest in Angola. The IMF is tasked with setting and regulating standards for over 188 member economies. Prior to it’s creation in 1944, developing states such as Angola would have failed when faced with a crisis such as Covid-19 and possibly disintegrated into civil or interstate conflict. Its technical assistance, and provision of emergency loans are crucial to maintaining stability and surety for Lourenco’s government as with many other emerging free market economies globally.

The largest contributor to and as a result largest % vote holder in the IMF is indeed the US. So any insinuation that the IMF would approve of shady bailouts or credit agreements is a strong attack on a respected institution of global governance born out of Wilson, Roosevelt and Truman’s liberalist post war recovery plans.

Again im sensing some concern re China’s influence... It is on the record that China’s foreign investment as part of its Belt and Road initiative is designed to sure up trade routes and influence for centuries to come. Just as the US invested heavily post ww2 in Europe and throughout South America in the Cold War, just as Australia invests heavily in PNG and pacific neighbours. Just because we may have been brought up in the west doesn’t mean we are any more pious when it comes to applying economic rationalism.

Management have done a great job utilizing both Angolan and Chinese cooperation and is a major reason why we have progressed so far in such little time and slated to turn dirt in 90 odd days.

It has been great to see the rise from 12c to over $1 in the space of 7 months and looking forward to more progress post BFS in this NdPr field that has started to boom with the Green Evolution.
