Selecting a Supreme Court Justice should be done according to a number of factors, such as:

How well does this person follow the original meaning of the Constitution?
How well do they follow precedent?
Do they believe Brown v Board of Education was correctly decided?

etc.etc.- all questions of law. Selecting a Supreme Court Justice with the express opinion of, 'hey if I pick her, I'll get the Latino vote in Florida and win the election'- is shockingly corrupt because you're making the selection not to benefit the country, but yourself.
