The nubb of the issue here is that neither Rudd nor Swan have any foresight or insight at all about what is going on. They are just simply reacting to events when they occur, in a way that would be considered the safe and popular thinking, irrespective of the circumstances. Basically they dont know they dont know.
When people are scared they try to exert more control, its the natural human response. Rudd and Swan are way out of their depth and scared, very scared, with good reason.
Dont be surprised when the planned tax cuts are withdrawn by the government because we cant afford them. The GFC did it to us! An excuse we are going to hear a lot more over the next 5 years.
Give the kiddies their lolly. It will be a quick sugar rush followed by a lot of crying babies. Sad really and all in the bogus name of nation building.
