I sincerely hope Shougang dont proceed with the proposed deal based on 1 billion tonnes as the returns dont justify the outlay.
For that deal to proceed and make investment sense sense we would need at least another 1 billion tonnes from Clive to scale the project up, therefore reducing the per unit cost and increasing the profitability to a level that makes the project worthwhile.
Plenty of other projects for Shougang to invest in now at discounted rates.
Clive may be facing a new attitude from the Chinese that he is having difficulty with.
Unless Clive is prepared to sell another 1 billion tonnes on fair commercial terms i sincerely hope Shougang decline the deal.
And heaven knows Clive has the tonnes at his disposal.
