Sprinklers on the roof and clear gutters does not equal a house that can be saved.
There must be a fundamental change in the thinking of house builders, architects, councils and town planners in these rural areas.
Fact is if the house is flamable, it will burn. If the windows or doors are exposed, the glass will break, and likely the window furnishings inside will combust before the glass even breaks due to the radiant heat. The reality is many have died attempting to defend the indefendable, or died attempting to leave when they realised their efforts were fruitless.
three words - appropriate risk management. Sadly, many people do not have a true grasp of the concept.
