What bad timing! Is there a curse on VCR and its shareholders?
Well putting it into perspective Thoratec also had problems with its lead late last year in which 5 patients died. Its lead is not as advanced as VCR's, which is designed to be replaceable. IIRC they had upwards of 1000 patients implanted with the faulty device whereas for VCR it is around 100. Thor took a small dip but shortly after its share price went to record highs.
VCR is too advanced and too much of a competitor for Thoratec for everything to be lost.
VCR's quality control thus far has been excellent. I trust they will be able to clean things up.
