It seems to me that the federal government is becoming less and less relevant in the whole energy issue. The days are past where what they say carries any weight, since people are voting with their feet. Homeowners and businesses are installing solar on their roofs. Companies are making major investments in renewable generation and storage. State and local governments are focused on energy saving measures. All following the money.
And yesterday, the energy minister in NSW said that he does not believe the Narrabri fracking project will actually go ahead even though it has been approved. The gas it will produce will actually raise the average cost of gas in NSW when it is already one of the highest in the world. And this is another failing of the federal government, talking a lot about reducing the cost of gas but not doing anything to make it happen.
