the they go and blow $10b on hand outs to help the retail sector and create 77k jobs? well where the hell are the jobs?
go and look at the construction industry, its ground to a halt. how much unemployment is going to come from that? so now these tradies that were charging an arm and a leg are gona have no work and are going to have to become price takers and sell their $50k v8 utes.
what the government should do is lower income tax, ie make the first $20k tax free. then you will see spending pick up.
they also need to target how the money is spent because just handing out cash is not an efficent use of capital, just ask the banks!!!
i would suggest that they first cut taxes, and then start to get some of the infra projects up and running. ie like making sure that in 5yrs our ports and transport facilities will be able to handle what they cant now.
what about the government aslo funds some of the jr miners so they can get into production, ie help employment and help build the tax take for the future.
how much of the hand out will actually help creat jobs?
KRudd and Swan have no idea how to get out of this, i think Peter Costello is rubbing his hands together because he will be the one political figure that comes out of this on top.
KRudd and Swan will only last 1 term and then Costello will be PM.
