Hmmm... really interesting when Don Lewis said that the current economic condition is not of concern.

Also, it is very interesting to note that Don Lewis said the company is trying to get the best terms from the list of potential strategic partners and at the same time doesn't want the progress of the project to be disrupted because of this reason.

I wonder to what extent this is true ... The latest presentation indicates that mining has been pushed up to 2013. Now when I think more about this, I can only come up with two possibilities on the current situation with SDL.

1. Because of the attractiveness of the whole project, there are so many potential strategic partners to choose from that the company believes that by pushing forward the timeline by a year in ensuring the company selects a strategic partner that can make this whole project a huge success is well worth the sacrifice.

2. Despite the attractiveness of the project, there are only a few IDEAL candidates and they are taking more time to select the best partner by thinking this more thoroughly.

Now I know the article mentioned that Don also said there are already numerous companies interested in becoming involved with the project but it also mentioned that the IDEAL partner would be a partner with an equal joint venture. In this current economic climate, it is very hard to get an ideal agreement and this is especially true as we can see that most companies are already in survival mode.

On another note, I wonder if Don is too overconfident when he said that the current economic condition is not of concern. After all, whoever the potential strategic partner is, it has to be an existing company with an existing operation and lots of $$$ and we all know that all companies are affected by the current economic condition, whether they are mighty or small companies and can go bust at any time if the current economic situation gets worse... well except for pawn brokers.

Anyway, I'm praying hard that possibility 1 is true!!!
