    G'day Key Sole,

Reason for Wellington Apiary's being prohibited into WA is because it isn't heat treated in the traditional way. This allows the optimum retention of flavours and is also considered healthier to eat, however the flipside it may allow the survival of organisms which could threaten the industry elsewhere. It is noted on the containers pictured and I believe the Producer's website too when I looked.

I'm a sandgroper myself, ex farmer, and Customs Officer, (ex officio quarantine officer), and we hit on it (honey) regularly back in the '90's even. On occasion, even if the honey being brought in was commercially produced, (and heat treated), it was still seized if it was too cloudy to observe the presence of foreign bodies.

So bottom line I'm afraid for this particular honey WA will be out for the foreseeable future mate. confused.png
