Swan's comments:

"Mr Swan refused to speculate on China's bid for fledgling Australian mining companies.

Shares in OZ Minerals soared on Tuesday after a $2.6 billion takeover bid for the debt-laden miner was launched by a Chinese state-owned resource group Minmetals Non-ferrous Metals.

''I'm not making any comment on those foreign investment proposals which are before the foreign investment review board,'' Mr Swan said.

''I will take the ultimate decision on those proposals.
''I judge them, in the national interest, and I will do so on this occasion.''
