    researcher100,

    You said:

"The long term planning should not be thrown out the window in a race to make the numbers look good now."

You really should be looking at the various government initiatives to gain a broader view of what the government is doing and planning to do in terms of long term planing. I had pointed out to you before that the government does have long term plan in progress and the next big one will be decision on major investments in infrastructure public assets.

Reading from that part of your post that I have quoted above, I have the impression that you do not think this government has long term plans for the nation. Am I right or am I wrong ?

The government definitely has not "thrown out the window in a race to make the numbers look good now". It has been adequately explained by the government the reasons for this $42b package, and that is the urgent need to inject some expenditure stimulus into the economy.
