Best to learn from it.
Some things I have learnt.
Bear markets tend to last approx. 1 1/2 years.
Don't trust the banks.
Equity raisings although they will dilute stocks are better.
Ask questions to companies before investing specifically around the companies balance sheets.
When companies start making huge payments to CEO's and directors its time to sell the stock.
Bull markets on average last 4 years after 4 years of growth take profits and start building up a cash position and wait for patiently for opportunities to present themselves.
Diversification.
Watch for double tops in stocks and markets.
Never borrow to invest. I would include property in this as well as I think the baby boomers through downsising will be placing pressure on property values for a considerable time.
