I got a letter from my bank at the end of last year saying that they had automatically increased my cc limit over 300%. I didn't request it - they just did it. Why? -because they want to tempt me into debt because it makes them alot of money. No, the Aus banks are certainly not the ethical institutions you may like to believe. They are run by people who draw enormous salaries - and greed begets greed.
What on earth were they thinking when they were lending out cash to 18/ 19 yr olds to buy expensive luxury goods? Ethics in big business is rare and the banks are no exception.
